One Of A Kind Original Art Dolls |
I start by making a skeleton armature out of wire. I then sculpt the faces, hands and feet using my own polymer clay mix. The eyes are glass beads or are hand painted. After the faces, hands and feet are made they are attached to the wire armature. The wire is covered with cotton batten to give the body form. Hand sewn clothing is added. Tibetan lambs wool is attached for hair, beards eyebrows etc or fux fur. I finish the dolls off with any other decorations I feel they need to make them complete. Because of the wire the dolls can be posed. NO MOLDS ARE USED. |

Winter Sprite: Way back in the coldest most remote part of the northern woods there lives a clan of fae unlike any other. Nobody is quite sure how they ended up in such a hostile place but through the generations they have learned to adapt & have become a very hardy group. If you are lucky enough to spend some time with them you will find that they are the warmest of fae in spite of the harshness of the weather outside. They love stories & are amongst the best at telling them. They sit around warm camp fires after the sun has set telling folk tales & adventures of ancestors that have long pasted. Hobgoblin. This is one of those dark gothic fairies we don`t like to think about but DO exist. Up to no good and looking like he is mad at everybody and everything, I think he is looking to pick on someone. I know I`m going to stay out of his way. Melwood: I was sharing a drink and some small cakes with my friend Melwood one day when all of a sudden "SNAP" the handle broke off of his cup. I am so glad none of the hot tea spilled onto him. Woodland Male Fairy: This fairy is a full body sculpture made using my own polymer clay mix, colored with powdered pigments. He is 4 inches tall. The eyes are blue glass beads. The hair, sideburns and eyebrows are Tibetin lamb. He has a brown & white top, green and white striped leggings. His shoes are dark brown. ABOUT THE WINGS: I do a lot of hiking in the woods spring, summer and fall. I am always finding butterflys that have passed on. Most of the time the wings are all torn & tatered. I was lucky to find this pair that were in great condition. I took them home and placed them between clear packaging tape. This is making them strong and will save there color for many years to come.
